John & Loni Haran
|
John Haran was born and reared in Wichita, Kansas. He attended the University of Wichita on a baseball scholarship. In 1962, he married the love of his life, Lonita.
They moved to Dallas in 1963 and started their own company, HAC Corporation in 1973 to manufacture exterior aircraft and helicopter parts. The company was sold in 1999 to Pratt & Whitney.
His sons Randy and Mike continued the aviation legacy with their own company, Texas Air Composites and Manufacturing in which John was actively involved.
The John Haran Aviation Maintenance Scholarship, held at the Tarrant County College Foundation was created in loving memory of John Haran by his family, and funded by family members, friends and colleagues. An avid aviator, John encouraged young people to consider aviation as a career. The stipend from the scholarship is used to reimburse Tarrant County College aviation maintenance students for the tools that they are required to purchase for the aviation program. Up to three students per academic year have been awarded this scholarship since the Fall of 2008.
